2 Kinds of Chiropractic Adjustments
For over a century, Chiropractors have been adjusting vertebral subluxations (misalignments in the spine) and promote health and well-being. The most common understanding of what we are doing revolves around treating patients for spinal pain. Neck pain, backaches, sciatica are an everyday occurrence, as well as carpel tunnel
, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and rotator cuff issues.
These areas are addressed as biochemical problems. Misalignments in the vertebra put pressure on the nerves which exit the spine and cause pain, spasm and swelling and can respond rapidly to chiropractic treatment depending on the health and condition of each patient.
There is another aspect of adjustments which address other important health issues such as migraines, sinusitis, sore throats, earaches, stomach and digestive issues. These adjustments work on a more subtle level effecting physiology (the way things work in the body). By adjusting vertebral subluxations, we can reduce pressure or irritation to the nerves that travel to every organ, tissue and cell throughout the body. If you think of it as an electrical current running from the brain down the spinal cord and out to the cells, you can imagine what would happen if the connection was restored and proper “voltage” was flowing. So in reality, Chiropractors don’t treat these maladies, but rather find and correct the source of “power” which runs and regulates every cell and sustains our health.

Now that we are finally done with the longest winter in my memory, it is time for Summer activities. Summer’s arrival typically demands a lot of yard work and gardening. Many of us can’t wait to get out there and get started but, we often end up overdoing it. The constant bending, raking, weeding, planting and digging can present many painful reminders of our cold weather inactivity. Soreness in our joints and muscles are the most common symptoms.
