Dr. Hannah Gale
Dr. Hannah Gale is a naturopathic doctor, homeopath, herbalist, and licensed acupuncturist who believes in a holistic approach to medicine using the body’s own healing potential and safe, natural, effective treatments. Using nutrition and common nutrients as a first line of treatment, along with targeted whole herbs and homeopathy, allows Dr. Gale to gently awaken the body’s own awareness and biofeedback mechanisms. She believes strongly that the patient needs to understand their own process because healing is their journey back to themselves.
Dr. Gale began studying Chinese Medicine and Alternative Medicine at 18 yrs. of age, following a near-death illness and hospitalization that left her with a diagnosis of infertility. With the help of acupuncture and other natural healing methods, she managed to restore her own health and reverse her condition. After the birth of her son, she trained as a Waldorf teacher, and become an avid student and practitioner of Anthroposophical Medicine. After graduating her class at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, she returned to her studies and achieved a Master of Science in Acupuncture and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine the University of Bridgeport.
While at the University of Bridgeport she began to specialize in homeopathy under the guidance of Dr. Florence McPherson and Dr. Eleanor Herschberger. She was also given a scholarship to study in Montreal under Dr. Andre´ Saine at the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy. She continues to study homeopathy with Robert Street of the Maher Baba Free Homeopathic Dispensary and Dr. Carina Lopez, and also utilizes Anthroposophical homeopathic combination remedies. She also interned at the Center for Excellence in Generative Medicine under Dr. Peter D’Adamo and believes strongly that connecting research and Naturopathic Medicine allows for better outcomes for patients. Utilizing the Blood Type Diet oriented research pioneered by Dr. D’Adamo, as well as the new techniques for analysis of DNA polymorphisms and gut bacteria profiling are principles that Dr. Gale believes can help a broad range of patient issues.
Dr. Gale also has an avid interest in research and wrote her thesis on the new science of epigenetics and the epigenetic effects of many commonly used nutraceutical supplements. By adding an understanding of the epigenetic mechanisms of turning on and off protein manufacture to an understanding of the fundamentals, Dr. Gale is able to use nutraceuticals and herbs more effectively and with a deeper understanding. Her constant research and scholarship help her to unravel the disease process in complicated patients and achieve success with recalcitrant cases.
Ultimately, what makes Dr. Gale unique is her ability to communicate and delve into the uniqueness of each patient. Chinese Medicine philosophy states that all diseases begin with emotions, and while this may seem like a stretch in a modern context, where we know that many diseases have genetic and environmental components, there is always an emotional component to our journey with healing. Dr. Gale is able to separate out the different elements in the knot of her patient’s experience and support the whole person as they come to understand their experience of healing as a journey to themselves.
